VER-SUR-MER BRITISH MEMORIAL Overlooking the iconic Gold Beach, the British Memorial honours the 22,442 Commonwealth soldiers from over 30 countries who lost their lives under British command during the D-Day landings on June 6th 1944 and the Battle of Normandy, as well as the French civilians who also perished. The Winston Churchill Centre, inaugurated by King Charles III on 6 June 2024, includes two galleries, an educational area and a cafeteria. It is open seven days a week.
