Each year, Bayeux's inhabitants celebrate a well-preserved heritage during the medieval festival! A chance for visitors to explore the town with a trip to the medieval market and building site, games of yesteryear and a wide range of street entertainment.

From 27 to 29 June, the Medieval festival will be setting Bayeux alight! Jugglers, craftsmen, dragon trainers and tavern-keepers will be coming together for a frenzied programme...

A not-to-be-missed event, and one of the biggest of its kind in France, the grand medieval parade will once again be opening the festivities. Fire-eaters, jugglers and fantastic creatures promise an explosive start to the festivities!

After exploring the elements of fire and earth in previous editions, this 38th edition of Les Médiévales de Bayeux plunges us into the fascinating world of water.

Source of life, symbol of purification, power of the waves or mirror of the collective imagination... Water has crossed the ages, inspired myths and shaped landscapes. As a town with a rich historical heritage, crossed by the River Aure and steeped in tradition, Bayeux lends itself wonderfully well to this festive and poetic immersion.

The grand parade, re-enactments, encampments, street shows, games, concerts, lectures, medieval market, crafts, games garden, building sites, taverns... The events, most of which are free, have been designed to celebrate water in all its dimensions, between medieval symbolism, popular legends and contemporary issues. The theme is also a subtle reminder of the importance of this precious resource and its preservation.

Alongside the companies, the re-enactors and master craftsmen, set up in the courtyard of the Hôtel du Doyen and on the Place de Gaulle, will be reviving the history of the crafts: glassmakers, blacksmiths, potters, candle-makers and foundrymen will be united around the fire to create unique objects before the eyes of visitors.
