On the heights of the cliffs overlooking all the D-Day landings beaches, the Germany gun battery in Longues-sur-Mer played a strategic role in the Allied landings on 6 June 1944. Four casemates - still containing the original guns - and a fire command post, listed as Historic Monuments, make up this major element in the Atlantic Wall. You can visit the Longues-sur-Mer artillery battery on your own or during a guided visit.
