Europe, the State, the Conservatoire du littoral, the Normandy Region, the Département du Calvados, Bayeux Intercom and the Commune of Longues-sur-Mer have all contributed to the redevelopment of the Longues-sur-Mer Battery site. On the heights of the cliff overlooking the entire D-Day landing beaches, the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer played a strategic role during the Allied landings on 6 June 1944. Four casemates - still fitted with their original guns - and a fire direction post, listed as Historic Monuments, make up this major work of the Atlantic Wall. The Longues-sur-Mer battery can be freely explored on an interpretation trail.
