A Conservatoire du Littoral site managed by the Département of Calvados, Mont Castel is a limestone plateau at the top of marl and limestone cliffs. Overlooking the fishing port of Port-en-Bessin, the site offers a panoramic view of the rocky foreshore and the Normandy coastline, from the Cotentin peninsula to Le Havre.
Opening time
By prefectural decree, the coastal path is closed to the public for safety reasons.
To offer an alternative way of exploring the site, the Conservatoire du Littoral and the Département have created a 2km path set back from the cliff crest and accessible via the Chemin de l'Artillerie (at the end of Rue René Hommet).
Visitors are advised to park in the harbour and walk along the dock to reach this path.
