Bayeux Medieval Festival 2017

Each year, Bayeux offers its heritage as the showcase for the Medieval festival! In 2017, the medieval bestiary is in the spotlight! Numerous animations will be proposed around the animals, whether real or fantastic… From June 29th to July 2nd, Bayeux will once again don its fineries and take visitors back to the Middle Ages…

Geese, falcons, eagles, but also camels and yaks invade the streets of the medieval town! This year, animals are in the spotlight! They will be accompanied by magical creatures such as the Dragon of the Apocalypse or the Mechanical Flamingo Pink …

The inaugural night show, proposed on Thursday 29th June at 10 pm, will see its butterflies and other nature creatures transformed into luminous beings …

Another highlight, the popular medieval market will take place around the cathedral, from Friday evening (à partir de 19h). Some 150 exhibitors from France and Europe will exhibit their items of arts and crafts with jewellery, dolls, sculptures, and pottery.

Stonemasons will set up a workshop.  There will also be many street performers and plenty of taverns for the amusement of visitors! The medieval mass will be celebrated in the medieval fashion in the Cathedral, emptied of its chairs for the occasion, on the Sunday morning at 10 am.

As for the great parade, still very much awaited, it will gather more than 500 participants on Friday 30th June from 7.30 pm! The animals will obviously be part of it!

Medieval book fair – Each year the medieval book fair is held on the Place de Gaulle. This is the occasion for readers to meet the authors of  books set in the Middle Ages.

For children, a pedagogic farm, with poultry, goats, donkeys and rabbits, as well as medieval games and animations, will be proposed in the courtyard of the Deanery!
