Bayeux Medieval Festival 2014

Each year, Bayeux offers its heritage as the showcase for the Medieval festival! In 2014, as the 70th anniversary of D-Day is celebrated, the chosen theme will be "From one conquest to another".  From the Viking invasion in Normandy, to the Allied landings in 1944 and the conquest of England by William in 1066;  in Bayeux on the 5th and 6th of July, visitors will embark on a journey through time …

There will be reconstructions of Viking encampments and the re-enactments of battles.  There will also be workshops on navigation techniques and the construction of long-ships with two replicas displayed Place de Gaulle and in the courtyard of the Deanery!
