Bayeux Medieval Festival 2013

The whole ducal city offers its preserved heritage as a décor for the Medieval Festival ! For this 27th edition, Middle-ages Builders will bo honoured…

 

In the Hotel du Doyen courtyard, discover architecture and ancient techniques with medieval crane, scaffolding and activities. For the first time, a great exhibition will be presented upstairs, highlighting Middle-ages builders and their different know-how, with models, illustrations and period tools. In the garden, children will find their own place with activities specially made for them! Wooden toys, painting activity, shadow play…

 

In the Cathedral of Bayeux, without chairs as in medieval times, the "beggars" Mass will take place Sunday 7th at 9.30 am. For children, a fresco workshop will be proposed for the first time. Around the Cathedral, the medieval market and the street shows will gather artists and craftsmen, coming from Normandy, France or even Germany, Belgium or England.

 

A 15th century company will establish its fortress and its camp on Place de Gaulle: fighting, manoeuvres and siege techniques during the day. To see also: civil camp, falconry show and calligraphy stand.

 

Do not miss the 15th Medieval Bookfair with its various program and histories for all ages, and the dress parade on Sunday morning at 11.00 am.
